Meeting Description: The Southeastern Conference on Linguistics will be having its 84th meeting at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC, on March 8-11, 2017.

The theme for the conference is ‘Underrepresented and minority linguistic varieties in the Lowcountry and beyond‘. We hope to address issues regarding those linguistic varieties from the the South Carolina Lowcountry, the US Southeast, and beyond that are usually overlooked and are therefore underrepresented. Topics might include Linguistic Studies of Creoles, Indigenous Languages, Minority Languages, Speakers' Rights, Dialectal Variation in the US, Emerging Linguistic Varieties, among others.
